Tuberculosis
Pulmonary tuberculosis, also known as chest tuberculosis, is a serious lung infection caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The infection usually affects the lungs, but can also spread to other parts of the body. Left untreated, pulmonary tuberculosis can be fatal.
Pulmonary tuberculosis is highly contagious and can be spread through coughing and sneezing. It can also be transmitted through contact with saliva, mucus, or blood from an infected person. Symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis include coughing up blood, chest pain, shortness of breath, and fever.
The best way to prevent pulmonary tuberculosis is to get vaccinated against it. vaccine is available for both adults and children. Treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis typically involves taking antibiotics for several months.
