Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that is caused by the obstruction of the airway. This obstruction can be from the tongue, soft tissues in the throat, or nasal passages. When these tissues obstruct the airway, it causes a person to stop breathing for short periods of time. This can happen multiple times during a single night of sleep, which can lead to significant sleep deprivation. Snoring is often a common symptom of sleep apnea.
